Abstract
This study aims to examine the role of political media in Libya after 2011 in shaping public opinion amid the political and social transformations the country has experienced. Media, whether through traditional channels or social media platforms, has become an influential tool in directing citizens’ views and political stances. However, it has also faced significant challenges related to credibility, professionalism, and the proliferation of conflicting media narratives.
The research explores how media has contributed to raising political awareness among citizens, while at times also deepening societal divisions due to the absence of a unified media vision. The study employs a variety of methodologies—including descriptive, analytical, historical, comparative approaches, and case study analysis—to understand the relationship between media and public opinion within the Libyan context.
The findings indicate that Libyan political media holds substantial power to influence public opinion, yet it requires improvements in content quality, professionalism, and independence. The study recommends that media should play a constructive role in fostering national dialogue and reconciliation, and in delivering accurate and objective information to promote stability, national unity, and informed political participation.
