Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the impact of organizational culture and leadership behavior among teachers on organizational citizenship behavior. The respondents of this study were the 150 elementary teachers of Loreto, Agusan del Sur. Correlational method of research was conducted using validated adapted and modified questionnaire on both variables. The extent of organizational culture was measured in terms of the following indicators: support, mission, success and bureaucracy. Likewise, leadership behavior was measured to; leadership encouragement and support for subordinates; Leader giving subordinate his/her clear vision; Leader’s behavior is consistent with his/her vision; and Leadership persuasion in vision acknowledgment. On the other hand, OCB was measured to the following indicators: altruism, conscientiousness, and civic virtue. Descriptive statistics revealed that the organizational culture and leadership behavior among teachers on OCB were manifested oftentimes with an overall mean of 3.50, 3.31 and 3.41 respectively. The null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance to test the correlation of variables. Results showed that there was a significant high positive correlation and a moderate positive correlation between variables reflecting from its Pearson’s r which has 0.709 and 0.674 and both p-value of 0.000. In conclusion, teachers engage in extra-role behaviors beyond their formal responsibilities if organizational culture and leadership behavior is actively demonstrated and positively evident. It was recommended that the Department of Education is encouraged to prioritize leadership development and school culture strengthening initiatives by integrating authentic leadership and organizational citizenship in their training programs for school heads.
