TEACHERS’ OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN EDUCATION ON BANGSAMORO AUTONOMOUES REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO

This study aimed to determine the opportunities available for teachers on friendly work environment, performance enhancement, and personal development, the teachers’ challenges on meeting personal responsibilities and work demands, the influence of opportunities on the challenges of teachers, and the relationship between the opportunities and challenges of teachers from the eighty-six (86) teachers in the seven (7) elementary schools at Pikit SGA BARMM. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. Regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis. Findings revealed that majority of the teachers agree that the opportunities for friendly work environment, performance enhancement, and personal development are highly available. In addition, they also agree that they are more challenged in meeting work demands and personal responsibilities. It was revealed that the extent of opportunities for teachers has a significant influence on the level of challenges they have. The hypothesis of the study is rejected. It was concluded that teachers with more irrelevant opportunities for development tend to be more challenged. Furthermore, those teachers with limited opportunities for free and quality resources tend to be more challenged. Furthermore, it was recommended that in order to support teachers in facing challenges, support opportunities must be based on their needs and desires.
