Abstract
The IoT-enabled Smart Helmet is a comprehensive safety solution designed to safeguard miners working in hazardous environments. By integrating advanced environmental and biometric sensors, the helmet continuously monitors parameters such as gas concentration, temperature, humidity, light levels, and heart rate. In case of dangerous thresholds, the helmet triggers visual, auditory, and haptic alerts for the wearer and transmits real-time data to a cloud-based dashboard accessible by safety personnel. The system employs technologies like NodeMCU, React, NodeJS, ExpressJS, and MongoDB to enable real-time communication, data visualization, and historical data tracking. This proactive monitoring system not only enhances immediate worker safety but also enables data-driven decisions for regulatory compliance and predictive maintenance. Its design is lightweight, ergonomic, and adaptable, making it suitable for various high-risk industries such as mining, oil & gas, and construction.
