Abstract
Aquaponics, an integrated farming approach combining aquaculture and hydroponics, offers a sustainable and efficient method of food production. However, traditional aquaponics systems face challenges due to their reliance on manual monitoring and control, leading to inefficiencies and scalability issues. This research presents an IoT-enabled aquaponics system designed to optimize resource utilization, automate monitoring and management, and improve overall productivity. The system employs a network of sensors to continuously track key parameters, including water temperature, pH levels, dissolved oxygen, and water levels, ensuring optimal environmental conditions for both aquatic life and plant growth. An ESP32 microcontroller facilitates real-time data collection and communication with a cloud-based platform, enabling remote access and control via mobile or web applications. Automated processes, such as fish feeding, aeration, and water circulation, reduce labor-intensive tasks and enhance system stability. Experimental evaluations demonstrate significant improvements in resource efficiency, crop yield, and water conservation compared to conventional aquaponics methods. This study highlights the transformative role of IoT in modern agriculture, demonstrating its potential to enhance the sustainability, automation, and scalability of aquaponics systems. The findings contribute to ongoing efforts in precision farming and smart agriculture, paving the way for technologically advanced food production solutions.
