Abstract
This paper presents an automated and efficient system for detecting and masking Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in digital documents such as images and PDFs. In an era where data privacy is increasingly critical, unintentional exposure of sensitive information like Aadhaar numbers, PAN cards, dates of birth, and phone numbers poses significant privacy and security threats. The proposed tool leverages Optical Character Recognition (OCR) using Tesseract and rule-based pattern matching techniques to identify sensitive information. It further employs image processing techniques to anonymize detected PII through selective blurring and compression. The system supports real-time customization of masking intensity, compression quality, and even integrates deepfake image detection to verify authenticity before processing. By automating PII detection and masking, this tool aids organizations, individuals, and law enforcement in safeguarding personal data, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and preventing identity theft and information leaks.
