Abstract
This study presents a cross-cultural comparative analysis of educational philosophies, juxtaposing the views of Indian thinkers—Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, and Rabindranath Tagore—with their Western counterparts—Jean-Jacques Rousseau, John Dewey, and Friedrich Froebel. It examines their educational aims, pedagogical methods, concepts of discipline, teacher roles, and curriculum designs. Despite distinct socio-cultural contexts, these philosophers collectively emphasized holistic human development, moral education, experiential learning, and the intrinsic value of childhood. The study identifies converging themes such as character formation, learner-centered education, and social responsibility, while also highlighting divergences rooted in cultural ideologies. These insights offer valuable perspectives for modern educational reforms seeking to balance intellectual rigor, moral integrity, creativity, and civic consciousness in a globalized world.
