Abstract
Unrealistic beauty standards are a set of cultural norms that society has imposed on women and most of the time teen girls are the ones who are bombarded by the idea of ideal shape and color. We are living in an era of social media were false advertisements and influencers try to manipulate young minds and try to impose an idea of perfection in their brain. This study analyses the psychological impact that social media creates and their adverse effect on mental health. This paper aims to understand the effect of unrealistic advertisements on Indian consumers, especially teen girls. The paper also focuses on past literature and studies that have been conducted on the topic to gain a better understanding.
