Abstract
Neuro-symbolic AI systems represent a groundbreaking fusion of two historically distinct approaches to artificial intelligence: symbolic reasoning and neural networks. While neural networks have excelled in pattern recognition and data-driven learning, symbolic reasoning has long been the backbone of human logic, abstraction, and structured problem-solving. The integration of these two paradigms aims to combine the strengths of both—neural networks' ability to learn from vast amounts of unstructured data and symbolic reasoning's capacity for logical, rule-based decision-making. This paper explores the emerging field of neuro-symbolic AI, highlighting its potential to address some of the limitations of current AI models, including their lack of transparency, generalization, and reasoning capabilities. Through case studies, theoretical analysis, and future projections, the paper delves into the implications of neuro-symbolic AI for advancing the next generation of intelligent systems capable of more human-like understanding, decision-making, and problem-solving.
