MATERNAL-FETAL PROGNOSIS OF PREECLAMPSIA IN PRIMIPAROUS WOMEN: A REPORT OF 53 CASES AT CHEIKH ZAYED HOSPITAL

Introduction: Preeclampsia is a serious obstetric condition responsible for numerous maternal and fetal complications, particularly in developing countries. This study aims to assess maternal and fetal outcomes in primiparous women with preeclampsia at Cheikh Zayed Hospital (CHZ).Methods: This was a prospective, descriptive, and cross-sectional study conducted from March to August 2024 in the gynecology department at CHZ. All primiparous women with clinically and biologically confirmed preeclampsia were included. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20. Results: The incidence of preeclampsia in primiparous women was 1.9%. The average age of patients was 22.45 years. Most patients had a low socioeconomic status (86.79%). The most frequent maternal complications were eclampsia (15.09%) and retroplacental hematoma (11.32%). The main fetal complications were prematurity (32.08%) and perinatal mortality (18.86%). Conclusion:Preeclampsia in primiparous women is associated with significant maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Rigorous prenatal care, early detection, and appropriate management are essential for improving outcomes.
