Abstract
Farm2Fork tackles the growing need for transparency and traceability in the food supply chain. Our project leverages Hyperledger Fabric and Composer to build a blockchain-based solution that empowers consumers to track the journey of their food, from farm to fork. The key features include: • Traceability: Farm2Fork records critical information like harvest location, production methods, and involved actors for each product on an immutable blockchain ledger. • Enhanced Transparency: Consumers can access product data and verify its authenticity through a user-friendly interface, fostering trust and informed decision-making. • Secure Data Management: Hyperledger Fabric’s secure architecture safeguards sensitive data, preventing unauthorized access and manipulation. • Streamlined Workflow: Pre-defined transactions automate crucial supply chain processes, such as product creation, contract formation, and shipment updates. Our project utilizes Hyperledger Composer to design a model with various participants (farmers, distributors, retailers), assets (products, contracts, shipments), and transactions. These elements work together to map the entire food supply chain journey and offers significant advantages to both consumers and stakeholders within the food industry: • Consumers gain confidence in their food choices with access to transparent product information. • Stakeholders benefit from improved efficiency, reduced fraud risks, and enhanced brand reputation. Our project demonstrates the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize food supply chains by promoting transparency, accountability, and trust from farm to fork.
