Abstract
This research study analyzed employment trends and opportunities for criminology graduates from Davao Oriental State University – Cateel Extension Campus. Surveying 152 graduates from 2014 to 2023, the study found that most graduates were aged 26-30, predominantly male, and single. The majority graduated in 2022, and many held a Licensed Criminologist qualification. Common job search methods included walk-in applications and recommendations, with most securing employment within six months. Seventy-five percent of graduates were employed, with many in regular or permanent positions. Popular job roles were PNP officers and call center agents, with many earning P25,000 or more. Key skills utilized were communication and problem-solving, with most employed in public administration and defense. Nearly all graduates worked locally, in roles ranging from professional positions to self-employment. The study concluded that most criminology graduates are young men who find jobs through proactive searching and personal connections, typically within six months. To enhance the criminology department, recommendations include adding an IT proficiency course, training in the Incident Command System, offering more practical training, and investing in a state-of-the-art laboratory. These steps aim to better prepare students for real-world challenges and increase their job market competitiveness.
