Deconstructing Realities: Exploring Postmodernist Elements in Anita Desai's Novels

This research article delves into the postmodernist elements present in the novels of Anita Desai, a prominent Indian writer. By examining Desai's works through a postmodernist lens, this study aims to shed light on how her narratives challenge traditional notions of reality, representation, and narrative structure. Through an analysis of intertextuality, metafiction, fragmentation, and the blurring of boundaries between fact and fiction, this article uncovers the ways in which Desai engages with postmodernist ideas and offers unique perspectives on the contemporary literary landscape. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Desai's contributions to postmodern literature and offer insights into the intersection of postmodernism and Indian literature.
