Abstract
Nowadays, more and more people study English and it is considered as universal language, speaking is one of the skills that they want to be master. However, it is difficult to speak English fluently. To discuss the difficulties and give some solutions in speaking for English majored freshmen at Tay Do University, this study was conducted. The participants were eighty-four English majored freshmen at Tay Do University. The questionnaire was used as the main instrument. The results of the study showed that the first year students got many problems related to vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence. Based on the finding, some suggested solutions to help freshmen overcome difficulties and become good speakers.
