Abstract
According to Rabindranath Tagore, education should lead to self-realization. He was a poet and a saint in his own right, having discovered the universal soul in both nature and himself via his creativity and wisdom. He had this notion.Education aimed to bring about realization. Man's goal in life is to attain the universal soul, of which all people are a part, because it is the source of our own soul. Education can aid the process by which nature is evolving us toward this universal soul, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Even without assistance, the journey towards the universal spirit will go forward, but people will lose their ability to experience self-realization.
It is clear from this that Rabindranath's educational philosophy is a subset of his overall life philosophy. He held the opinion that every person has the capacity to advance toward the Superhuman, or universal soul. His idea of the global soul was clearly influenced by the Upanishad and Gita schools of thought.
