From Panchsheel to Modi-fication: Metamorphosis of a Nation

The politics of our nation for the past few decades is mired by the mindless and yet politically productive practice of distributing freebies in the garb of social schemes. Almost all the political parties have merrily embraced this opportunistic and convenient exercise as it has accrued profuse dividends in their favour in the form of votes. As a result, a section of the society secures undeserving benefits at the cost of the actually targeted underprivileged. In the long run, such doles cripple the initiative and enthusiasm among the recipients and impede their productive capacity. Due to the absence of proper audit and monitoring of these schemes, several corrupt practices raise their ugly fangs and fill the coffers of the influential class resulting in large-scale misuse of the public exchequer which could instead be utilized for the genuine welfare of the society.
