Abstract
Reading skill is the ability for someone to interact with a text and take in the words. Using a quantitative approach employing a descriptive survey research design, 30 Grade 2 pupils were surveyed to determine the reading level of the students in terms of reading behavior, motivation factors, reading support, educational factors, and reading habits. After analyzing the data gathered, the researcher found out that, among the Grade 2 pupils who were respondents of the study were mostly frustrated readers. Further, data revealed that the level of reading skills of Grade 2 pupils of Sibajay Elementary School in terms of reading behavior, motivation factors, reading support, educational factors, and reading habits are neutral. Moreover, post hoc test revealed that motivation factors differ significantly to reading support and educational factors as well as their reading support when compared to reading habits. Furthermore, it was revealed that factors best predict the reading skills are reading support and reading habits. Hence, out from the results of the study, the researcher provides a PABASAyanihan as proposed intervention.
