Abstract

Through the lens of cinema, science fiction films depict future happenings while also scrutinising future conceptions. Science fiction has historically presented a variety of sexualities and/or gender identities, making it an ideal platform for any critique of gender-biased cultures and behaviours. The parallel worlds and microcosms of the genre give the ideal platform for challenging and complicated gender portrayals. In today's world, popular science fiction films depict a clash of gender features, which may be noticed in the protagonists' outward appearance. As a result, androgynous bodies, cyborgs, humanoid robots, and hybrid beings blur the lines between men and women.
