Abstract
The most sensitive feature of the sheet metal forming is the elastic recovery during unloading called spring back. Spring-back is a very common and critical phenomenon in sheet metal forming operations, which is caused by the elastic redistribution of the internal stresses after the removal of deforming forces. The spring back is affected by the factors such as sheet thickness, material properties, tooling geometry etc. This paper reviews the various parameters affecting spring back such as ratio of die radius to sheet thickness, sheet thickness, blank holder force, coefficient of friction etc. Sheet metals are having the property of spring back depending on elastic deformation. The accurate required size & shape can be obtained by the prediction of spring back. Accurate prediction and controlling of spring back is essential in the design of tools and dies for sheet metal forming.
