Abstract
Reliability in recognizing image in dim lighting or uncontrolled lighting conditions is one of the most vital challenges in practical face recognition systems. Combination of robust illumination normalization, local texture-based face representations, distance transform based matching, kernel based feature extraction and multiple feature fusion, are involved to achieve reliable image reorganization. Image preprocessing is used to avoid the unwanted illumination effects such as Non-uniform illumination, Shadowing & highlights, aliasing, blurring and noise. The image is then subjected to Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and Local Ternary Pattern methods (LTP). The image is processed with two complementary sources Gabor wavelets and LBP so as to show that the combination is considerably more accurate than either feature set alone.
