Abstract
Abstract : Objective: The neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR) has been identified as a predictor of bacteremia in medical emergencies. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of the WBC count, neutrophil,NLCR,CRP in patients with simple febrile convulsions. Methods: Consecutive pediatric patients were retrospectively studied from those admitted with febrile convulsions and few of those admitted with viral fever without convulsions. Association of convulsions with NLCR was compared with C-reactive protein (CRP), neutrophil count, white blood cell (WBC) count. The study consisted total of 100 patients,70 patients had simple febrile convulsion and 30 had fever without convulsions. Results:NLCR was significantly more in febrile convulsion patients(p=0.026) Conclusion: NLCR is higher in patients with febrile convulsion indicating enhanced immune reaction..
