Abstract
The total amount of energy used in production of a material and this helps in choice of materials and construction techniques, to maximize the energy efficiency of a building during its operation is termed as embodied energy. The embodied energy in products and energy conservation are the environmental characteristics included in eco-labeling schemes. Energy is needed not only to run a building, it also takes energy to create the building products and build it The important factor in the green building rating system is the Embodied energy in buildings and their constituent materials . This paper explores the impact of different building materials on the embodied energy of the building structure.
