Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between economic growth and unemployment in India, focusing on the interplay between these two critical indicators of economic health. Utilizing data from various sectors, we analyze trends over the past two decades, particularly in light of policy changes and global economic shifts. The study highlights that while economic growth often correlates with declining unemployment rates, structural challenges, such as skill mismatches and informal employment, complicate this relationship in the Indian context. Furthermore, we explore the role of government initiatives aimed at job creation and skill development, as well as the impact of demographic factors. The findings suggest that fostering inclusive growth and addressing structural barriers are essential for reducing unemployment sustainably. Ultimately, this research underscores the need for targeted policies that align economic growth with employment generation to ensure equitable development in India.
