Abstract
Abstract Democracy and Economic Development are mutually reinforcing pillars of national progress. A democratic system promotes political stability, transparency, accountability, and citizen participation, creating a favorable environment for economic growth and social welfare. Conversely, economic development strengthens democratic institutions by reducing poverty, improving education, expanding employment opportunities, and enhancing public participation in governance. This article examines the relationship between democracy and economic development by exploring how democratic governance contributes to sustainable economic growth, inclusive development, human capital formation, and good governance. It also discusses the major challenges confronting democratic economies and suggests policy measures to strengthen democratic institutions for achieving long-term and equitable development. The article concludes that democracy remains an essential foundation for building resilient, inclusive, and prosperous economies.
