Abstract
Due to the scarcity of available information and research findings related to ethyl halides, including ethyl fluoride, particularly regarding their fundamental concepts, precise crystal structures, and diverse physical properties, the importance of studying the specific heat of these materials becomes evident. Specific heat is closely linked to several fundamental physical quantities, such as energy, which in turn provides a comprehensive understanding of the physical nature of a substance. This research serves as a prelude to future theoretical and experimental studies, aiming to shed light on this category of materials, which exist in the solid state at very low temperatures (below 180 Kelvin, or -93°C).
In this study, the Debye model was applied to analyze the molar specific heat of ethyl fluoride. This approach was chosen due to the noticeable scarcity, if not complete absence, of experimental readings of molar specific heat as a function of temperature. Therefore, our methodology was based on a theoretical, analytical, and inferential approach to evaluate the variation in specific heat with temperature and to estimate how well the behavior of this substance aligns with the Debye model. Accordingly, the Debye temperature used in this research for this material was assessed.
