Abstract
While autonomous driving is gradually affecting many traffic rules, speed compliance -amongst several others-
assumes a very important place. Deep learning and machine learning-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
may then be able to help in traffic safety by automatically enforcing adherence to the rules in place. This review
considers deep learning-based detection systems for traffic rules, which are narrowed down to real-time traffic sign
recognition and automatic enforcement of speed limits. The implementation of high-profile models like CNN and
Mask R-CNN used to detect speed limit signs; once spotted, it activates within the vehicle to prevent the driver from
moving beyond the detected speed limit.
