Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the global tourism and hospitality sectors, particularly in regions like Bundelkhand, India. This thesis examines the socio-economic repercussions of the pandemic on Bundelkhand's tourism industry, analyzing various challenges and adaptation strategies adopted by local businesses. Through descriptive, exploratory, and longitudinal research methodologies, data were collected via surveys and interviews with stakeholders across Jhansi, Orchha, Chitrakoot, and Banda. The findings reveal significant declines in direct and indirect employment, with businesses facing economic hardships, health and safety concerns, and infrastructural deficits. The study highlights the critical role of digital transformation, health protocols, and community engagement in mitigating these challenges. Policy recommendations include sustainable practices and comprehensive crisis management to foster resilience in the tourism sector. Ultimately, this research underscores the potential for Bundelkhand to leverage its unique cultural and natural assets to build a sustainable and robust tourism industry in the post-pandemic era.
