This paper highlights the concerning impact of communalism in Calcutta football, which represents a disturbing period in the city's sporting history. Initially recognized as a unifying platform that surpassed religious and ethnic differences, football in Calcutta experienced a regrettable transformation as communal tensions infiltrated the sport's essence.
