Abstract
Prediction (forecasting) of optimal photovoltaic power output is needed in power system planning and operation. Photovoltaic (PV) technology is used to generate electrical energy from direct sunlight. The irradiance of sunlight can affect how much electrical energy a solar module produces. This study discusses a simulation of the predicted output power of photovoltaic and boost converter systems with MPPT, in the next 1 hour with the approach of the backpropagation artificial neural network (ANN) method. In this study the learning rate used is 0.01 and the minimum target error is 0.001 with 5 predetermined network architectures. The results of this study are expected to be able to predict the photovoltaic output power with optimal accuracy.
