Abstract
This work is focused on the design of a rectenna that works at the frequency range of 10 GHz, to be used on a drone. The work is based on several theories about patch antennas, and followed by optimizations by simulation under software CST Studio, on the dimensions of the antenna. A more efficient antenna with a S11 parameter equal to -39.75 dB was obtained, with a characteristic impedance of about 49.99 Ω. We have modeled and simulated with Matlab software the pre and post rectification Butterworth filters. Also, we have chosen the Schottky diode type HSMS-8101, whose advantages in that range of frequency are shown and simulated with Matlab. The model of that diode was used in the calculation of the efficiency of the whole rectenna. Then, it is shown that a network of Rectennas might be necessary and needed in order to get the necessary energy to power up a drone. A realization in laboratory of that rectenna and its experimentations in real world, and finally its implementation in a drone are recommended for future research.
