Abstract
This study focuses on the synthesis of a geopolymer cement produced from natural pozzolans from Betafo. Experimental investigations were conducted to evaluate the influence of the molar ratio of the activating solution and the composition of aluminosilicate constituents on the mechanical properties of geopolymer mortars. The results show that materials rich in amorphous silica, particularly rice husk ash (RHA), promote geopolymerization reactions. Compression tests reveal that an optimal molar ratio of 1.5 makes it possible to obtain a maximum compressive strength of 7.7 MPa. Increasing the lime content also improves the mechanical performance due to the presence of Ca²⁺ ions promoting the formation of C-A-S-H gels. This study highlights the potential of local resources for the development of sustainable low-carbon construction materials.
