Abstract
Abstract
Background and objective: Oral hygiene is crucial for maintaining overall health, but allied health professionals' knowledge, practice, and attitude (KPA) towards oral hygiene are understudied.
Objectives: To assess the KPA of oral hygiene among allied health students and identify factors influencing their practices.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 142 allied health students using a self-administered questionnaire. Knowledge, practice, and attitude scores were calculated and analysed.
Results: The mean knowledge score was 70% (out of 10questions), practice score was 80% (out of 10 questions), and attitude score was 90% (out of 10 questions).
Conclusion: Allied health students demonstrated inadequate knowledge and practice of oral hygiene, despite positive attitudes. Educational interventions targeting knowledge gaps and promoting positive attitudes are necessary to enhance oral hygiene practices. Keywords: oral hygiene, knowledge, practice, attitude, allied health students.
